Overview
The Director, Account Planning will play a critical role in our agency as we expand across the US and worldwide. This role will be a leading part of client engagements by developing insights that will engage audiences in this new consumer centric world.
The ideal candidate has at least 5-7 years experience partnering with clients and agency teams to ascertain consumer and business insights that power creative thinking and execution. This person will help to drive desired results for our clients by applying his or her unique thought process and more importantly, passion to the work at hand. The right individual yearns to find innovative solutions that breakthrough the usual to connect with consumers.
Responsibilities
- The Director will primarily be responsible for the following three items:
- Astutely identify the cross-section of evolving consumer trends and needs and relate to what our clients can offer
- Actively draw out that single, key insight that can power a creative team to ideate
- Constantly evolve the process in collecting these insights and trends to stay ahead
- Contributing to the business and consumer knowledge of the team
- Partnering with our in-house research team to develop the programs to capture insights
- Inform the agency on evolutions in how consumers feel, how businesses react and how channels (most importantly digital) are evolving
- Leverage our existing (and develop new) outside partnerships to “listen” to the target consumers of our clients
- Participate in the creative process to ensure that the work maintains its integrity to the insight
- Extend our client’s brands into the social media space to create not only “push” campaigns, but also “pull”
- Collaborate with our team in all manners, including leading brainstorms
- Partner with our Account Management team to create demand for Account Planning services in our accounts that do not employ the group
Qualifications/Skills
- At least 5-7 years in a marketing services organization or agency
- Experience with qualitative and quantitative research
- Experience with segmentation models and the data that typically fills them
- Undergraduate degree that you can convey is relevant to our work, advanced degree is a plus
- Innate ability to develop customer insights, with
- The vision of the consumer
- The passion to understand the consumer’s feelings
- The drive to be a student of your craft
- The flexibility to go with the flow but the logic to have a process
- Experience and passion working with Creative folks
- Communication skills that get people to understand you and then ultimately trust you
- The ability to lead the team, but also be a part of the charge
