History

Headquartered in Boston, MA, One to One Interactive is one of the leading interactive marketing firms in the United States. Co-founded in 1997 by Ian Karnell and Jeremi Karnell, the company brings a unique and timely blend of methods, insights and disciplines to a marketing landscape that is in the midst of seismic transformation.

Between 1997-2004, One to One Interactive secured itself as one of the nation’s premier independent digital marketing agencies. Working with such clients as State Street, Unisys, Motorola, Nextel, and Capella University, the firm offered Fortune 1000 institutions digital marketing professional services that covered the entire array of strategies and tactics including web site design, develop, and deploy services, online advertising, and SEO/SEM. During this time, One to One Interactive was consistently ranked as one of the Top 50 interactive agencies by AdWeek and AdAge Magazine. The firm was then and is still today recognized as one of the top 25 advertising and web development agencies by The Boston Business Journal.

In 2005, One to One Interactive sought to differentiate itself in the marketplace by assembling a complete solution for premier brands, agencies, and publishers seeking to execute one-to-one digital marketing strategies. Four divisions were created underneath the One to One Interactive brand to provide a integrated offering of: (OTOi) digital marketing services, (OTOlabs) permission marketing technologies, (OTOnetworks) a network of niche online properties and performance marketing solutions, and (OTOinsights) pioneering new media research.

Over the last four years, One to One Interactive executed on its evolved position in the marketplace via aggressive corporate development and R&D. Between 2005-2007, the firm acquired and merged the nation’s two leading providers of Branded Desktop Applications & Widgets (AdTools & Arcavista) into its OTOlab unit. They were soon joined by ionMX, a leading e-mail services provider (ESP), acquired from Bluestreak in 2007. That same year also saw the launch of OTOnetworks and OTOinsights. OTOinsights was established by the acquisition of Quantemo, a Massachusetts based usability lab that focused on quantifying human emotional response to digital media.

It is this combination of vision, experienced leadership, fiscal management, and an ability to adapt to a changing business climate that has allowed One to One to survive and grow while many of its direct competitors have been forced to close their doors. As such, One to One has grown to become a leading/award winning Interactive firm in the United States with offices in Charlestown, MA, Baltimore, MD, and London, UK.
