One to One recognized for its contribution to the PMI’s Organizational Project Management Maturity Model
January 30, 2004
One to One Interactive has recently been recognized by the Project
Management Institute (PMI) for its contribution in supporting the
development of the global Organizational Project Management
Maturity Model (OPM3).
Changes in the global economy have required organizations to
realize that in order to thrive, prosper and grow, their
organizational strategies must be successfully executed. However,
the ability to execute ultimately constrains and defines strategic
possibilities. At the same time, consensus is growing that project
management is a critical organizational capability that assists
organizations in successfully implementing strategies. In response
to this interest in linking organizational strategies with
successful, consistent and predictable project outcomes, PMI
chartered the Organizational Project Management Maturity Model
(OPM3TM) project team. The project team's purpose was "to develop a
global standard for organizational project management for use by
organizations of various sizes and types, in various industries and
cultures, to guide the development of capabilities necessary to
execute organizational strategy through successful projects.” The
publishing of the OPM3 standard marks the 20th anniversary of PMI’s
first attempt to codify the Project Management Body of Knowledge
(PMBOK).
Since 1998, over 800 volunteers from 34 countries across the
globe have volunteered in a virtual environment to define and
refine the lexicon of organizational project management and
organizational project management maturity within OPM3. Further,
they have captured the essence of a holistic approach to
organizational project management via best practices. OPM3 will
help organizations to understand and assess their organizational
project management maturity and, if desired, will provide
assistance for charting a course toward improvements in
organizational project management.
One to One initially announced its participation in the
project in June, 2002 (One to One participates in development of
PMI's OPM3 model). Bill Haeck, One to One’s VP of Delivery
Services, served as the Deputy Director of the OPM3 program helping
to co-lead the development of the global standard. “One to One is
pleased to have contributed to the development of the OPM3,
recognizing the standard is of groundbreaking importance for the
project management profession”, states Jeremi Karnell, a founding
partner of One to One. “We are proud of Bill’s leadership and
tireless commitment to ensure that not only is One to One at the
forefront of program management best practices, but the industry as
a whole has a solid framework to adopt and deploy”.
